Tips I Gained From My Out-of-State Moving Headache

I still can't think how dumb I was. I lastly earned my dream job and all I had to do was pack up my stuff and move from my household's house in Macon, Georgia, to my new residence in Mountain View, California. After I got all of my things boxed up and left Georgia for excellent, the move itself was easy. My movers dealt with all the information. All I had to do was get in my car and drive west. A buddy made the drive with me, because he 'd never gone to California. We took turns behind the wheel. When I wasn't driving, I killed time on my cellular phone, texting and binge-watching television shows. Only later did I recognize the error I 'd made. I had not updated my cellular phone contract to reflect my new home. Throughout the cross-country journey, I incurred hundreds of dollars in roaming fees for an expense that usually costs $75. Please do not inform my brand-new task how bad I am at math.
Stuck in the '90s

Once we arrived at the new place, there was another big problem. I hadn't remembered to turn on the website power at my new residence. I got hit with California roaming charges the whole time I was waiting for the mystical appearance of the cable guy.
The Fuzz

Speaking of bills, I completely forgot to change my forwarding address. That implied that my credit card expense didn't show up. I got hit with late charges for it. I could have quickly avoided this mistake by signing up for paperless service. That wasn't my only change-of-address error, either. I got pulled over by a California cops officer. He explained that my license plate wasn't updated. Then, he explained that I had an out-of-state driver's license and registration. All three of those documents require updating when check here you change states of residence. I needed to pay a $175 ticket and after that over $500 for the brand-new licenses. Simply since I got a new job does not indicate I'm made from cash. Why do the polices not understand this? When I finally got wise to the reality that I required to update everything, I likewise attempted to update my car insurance coverage. Would you think they wouldn't let me initially?! I needed to send them a whole tree's worth of documentation in order to persuade them I 'd moved. They notified me that I 'd have to pay more for insurance in a higher risk state. I 'd have to pay more until my car passed the California emissions test. Think what? It didn't! My cherished 1996 supremely American muscle car is excessive of a gas guzzler to pass the environmentally-focused state emissions test. I'm going to have to pay more until I purchase a brand-new vehicle. What have I gained from my experience? Actually one hour of planning could have saved me lots of time and thousands of dollars. All I had to do was upgrade all my forwarding info, correct my billing data and mobile phone contract, and alert my insurer about the modifications. Another hour or so at the California Department of Motor Vehicles would've corrected all my license and registration issues. Given that I didn't do this, I had to invest a number of days at a dive motel, got mocked mercilessly by my pal, and lost a lot of money I could've invested in brand-new furniture for my brand-new home phone.
